mirus is a not-for-profit charitable organisation, working in partnership with the people we support, their families and other partners, to deliver high quality, person-centred support services for people with a disability.  We have been supporting people in Wales for over 35 years and currently support over 350 people in ten different local authority areas.

We are recruiting for an Assistant Practice Leader to join our team in Blaenavon, leading a team of Support Workers in a supported living environment.

As a starter, you'll have a passion for developing a team of staff to deliver an excellent experience for our customers, that's the people we all work hard to support.  But equally, if you show promise, we'll help to develop your potential.  Supporting your Practice Leader in delivering key goals, you have an excellent knowledge of mirus operations.  You take pride in leading within the services you will work at through daily challenges, always ensuring the team delivers a great range of choices and a customer experience that any person supported would want for within a health and social care environment.  You have a natural talent to get the best from the team and in return, we'll do the same for you as you'll have every opportunity to take your career further to the next steps. Experience of working with people with complex behaviour would be desirable.

You will support the Practice Leader in ensuring the delivery of creative, person centred, outcome focussed support to each person supported. Acting as a role model to support staff encouraging people to achieve their outcomes, develop and maintain personal dignity, self-respect, and confidence is a major part of the role.

What will you be doing:

You will ensure Quality Assurance systems are implemented to continually develop and review the quality of support provided.

Provide supervision and probation reviews for Support Workers as agreed with the Practice Leader and contribute to the identification and organisation of training and development to meet support staff needs

You will work in partnership with others, supporting the development of positive networks of people, and encouraging input from families, advocates, and multi-disciplinary teams.

Ensure the service we provide complies with CIW and RISCA regulation and Local Authority Service specifications.

Participate in the on call rota.

What we are looking for:

Ideally you will have a minimum of 2 years experience working in services for people with complex behaviours and autism.

Experience of working in a person-centred health and social care environment and have working knowledge of manual handling.

QCF level 4 in Health and Social Care is desired (or willing to work towards).

To have experience of using IT systems to ensure effective communication and planning.

Full UK driving license
