We are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to support behaviour in a Cardiff Secondary school. The various types of pupils you will be tasked with supporting will often show signs of challenging behaviour, anxiety and can also have difficulty reading social situations.

The school run a number of specialist programmes and initiatives to support their pupils and the appointed support assistant will be required to work with these programmes on and off site. As the school is now turning its focus to the support needed following on from covid isolation and lockdown periods, a priority will be supporting the reintegration to school life for all year groups. The school has noticed that a lot of the pupils who show signs of challenging behaviour, have found the return to school overwhelming and therefore your support will be needed on a social level not just on an academic level.

The School and Position

Position: Full time, Mon-Fri
Start Date: April 2022
Pay Rates: Up to £350 per week dependant on experience
Fixed term contract with possibilities of becoming permanent
Supporting secondary school pupils aged between 11-19
Large school with over 1500 pupils
The successful support assistant

Educated to Degree level is preferred but not essential
Previous experience working within a school or with school aged children
Be proactive and be able to support with multiple pupils while keeping engaged with your 1:1
Work closely with the the schools behaviour support team
Show an active interest in school community projects

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
