Core Talent are currently looking for a Commissioning Division Lead on behalf of one of our clients based in the North West area. Our client are a contractor delivering onshore and offshore High Voltage electrical engineering solutions, UK wide. They specialise in HV cable installation and jointing, with their specialist area being 132kV – 400kV. Operating for over a decade, they have aggressive growth plans and a strong pipeline of work, making it an excellent time to join the business.

Due to continued growth, our client are looking to expand their capabilities and build an in-house Commissioning division and want to bring in an experienced Commissioning Manager with experience in the Commissioning of HV Ducting and Cabling to manage and facilitate this. This exciting role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to build their own Commissioning Division and be an essential part of our clients growth.

Our clients projects are based UK wide, meaning that although the role is a hybrid between remote working and on-site work, travel across the UK will be required as and when needed. Experience in the commissioning of HV Cabling and Jointing is also essential.

Key Responsibilities

To effectively develop and manage the new commissioning division, building internal relationships and undertaking management activities that help manage the company efficiently and ensure end client satisfaction.

To build a new Commissioning division and ensure its smooth operation. This includes the recruitment, retention and management of commissioning staff.

Seeing that projects are delivered without harm to staff or people affected by works.

Acting as a key point of client contact.

Actively engage with client to identify new opportunities

Actively seek additional scope within existing and planned projects

Taking an active and purposeful role in identifying opportunities and in developing innovative tender solutions, documents and fees.

Promoting the company's technical abilities through thought leadership programmes.

Making full use of the company's management systems in achieving the primary objectives.

By careful management of staff utilisation and expenses, seeing that projects achieve forecast profit levels.

To manage a team of people with the aim of getting the very best performance through open engagement and support

To work diligently, efficiently and professionally at all times

The Ideal Candidate

Must have experience in the Commissioning of HV Cabling and Jointing – experience working on sub-stations/the national grid is preferred

7 years' + industry experience within Project Management/Commissioning Management.

Demonstrable experience in the managing of direct reports and multiple projects

Ideally an engineering degree or equivalent qualification.

Strong client facing skills

Effective leadership and motivational, supervisory and organisational skills.

Demonstrable attitude to improving project safety

Full UK Driving license – must be prepared to travel UK wide for projects as and when required

What's in it for you?
