Mech Tech Professionals are recruiting for Head of Operations for manufacturer and international supplier of packaging. As a global leader for innovative packaging solutions, our client pride themselves on manufacturing and supplying the highest quality products to their customers.

The Head of Operations will be a part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) you will be responsible for the management and leadership of the production and operations functions of the business to effectively deliver against the business KPIs and strategy, thus ensuring long term sustainability and supporting growth by providing strong commercial execution of the company’s strategic plan from an operational perspective.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the direct management of the Production Team, including Engineering, Toolroom, Planning and Repack operations, and will provide guidance and leadership to ensure effective operations and service are maintained.

The key responsibilities of the role will include:

* Overall responsibility for all aspects of the Operations & Production functions:

* Develop and drive the company’s operations strategy to support 98% OTIF target and budget

* Improve and maintain productivity, efficiency, environmental impact and reduce costs while ensuring that high quality products are produced that meet required standards

* Review and implement processes, procedures and tools which add value by reducing costs, mitigating risk and improving service through effective management

* Oversee the leadership and management of the day-to-day Production, Engineering, Toolmaking & maintenance, Planning and Repack operations of the business, ensuring the functions are running efficiently

* Develop implement, monitor, and reporting on operations KPIs to evaluate and achieve efficiency and performance (including real time metrics data collection and updating throughout shifts), and analysing data to inform future strategy and approaches

* Support the implementation of new systems, processes and infrastructure change to increase efficiency and maximise performance

* Manage resources; labour & overheads, to ensure maximum output and efficiency whilst controlling costs

* Performance measurement and management

* Continuous team and individual learning and development, including training, supporting, and coaching individuals in line with company People Strategy

* Create and drive a customer-centric team culture, which is committed to a quality, continuous improvement, environmentally aware and safety-first mindset

* Drive and maintain a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration and innovation, with an emphasis on embracing technology to maximise efficiency

* Ensure all Health & Safety requirements and policies are adhered to and compliant at all times.

To be considered for this position, we require the following skills and experience

* Significant senior experience within a manufacturing operations role

* Extensive understanding of modern manufacturing operations and processes

* Ability to drive improvements in production efficiency, OTIF performance, automation and the coordinating of production and planning activities

* Proven track record of leading change and delivering process improvements

* Strong financial acumen, analytical with strong IT capabilities

* Highly commercially astute and customer centric

* Knowledge and implementation of risk management strategies and processes

* Experience of managing teams within a faced paced and complex environment

* Proven ability in formulating data and forecasts to stakeholders with commercial acumen

* Ability to see wider strategic goals and ability to align actions to support department and organisational strategy
