International Service Technician (Worldwide Travel)

Our client in Bridgend, an innovative and highly successful manufacturing company whose hi-tech equipment is sold worldwide, is recruiting for an experienced International Service Technician to join them on a permanent basis.

In this exciting and unique role, you will provide Electro-mechanical engineering support to customers Worldwide, and will involve fault diagnosis, preventative maintenance, system repair, customer training, installation, and a variety of other technical support activities.

There will be a significant amount of international travel with this role, and for any given 4 weeks you would expect to be out of the country for 2 weeks, and this will be global. You will be intensively trained for a minimum of 2 months and have the opportunity to accompany another Engineer before you would be expected to undertake travel on your own.

Key Accountabilities:

Provide customers with on-site repair and maintenance support on a worldwide scale.

Provide customers with telephone technical and fault-finding support.

Deliver customer training as required on site at their premises worldwide.

Carry out installations from planning through to customer acceptance.

Ensure that on-site and office-based customer documentation is kept up to date, including service records and any other compliance documentation.

Identify opportunities for improvement, including product design, and process improvements.

Work with the International Sales team to identify and develop sales opportunities.

Provide support to the Product Engineering team, including build, test and validation support.

Qualifications, Skill, Experience & Attributes:

Ideal candidate will have a technical qualification in Electronic or Electrical engineering along with a broad engineering knowledge consistent with the need to diagnose faults, repair, maintain, promote, operate, and train customers.

Experience of mechanical systems, machine tools and optical or laser technologies would be highly advantageous.

Responsibility for trouble shooting in customer facing situations (either at customer site or via telephone / virtual meeting), requiring clear thinking and action while operating under pressure.

A clean driving licence and the willingness and ability to travel internationally extensively in response to customer needs are essential.

Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Accuracy and a high level of attention to detail with proven ability to multi-task, organise and plan own time to prioritise activities in line with customer and business needs.

Ability to analyse complex problems by breaking them down into components and identifying the key/underlying issues.

A systematic approach to effective resolution of technical problems.

Normal hours of work will be 37 per week (Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5.00pm and Friday 8.30am to 1.30pm), however there will be a significant amount of international business travel with this role.
