I am currently recruiting on behalf of one of our partnership Welsh medium schools for a Learning Support Assistant in the CF23 area. The successful applicant will be working on a 1:1 basis with primary aged students in the KS2 bracket, assisting them with their academics, managing their behaviour and ensuring their well-being is cared for on a day-to-day basis. Interviews will be held online via Teams over the next 2 weeks.

What is required to be a Learning Support Assistant?

A passion for education is key
A patient and caring nature
No formal education qualifications are required
Enhanced DBS Certificate available on the Update Service (Teaching Personnel can provide assistance)
Valid registration with the EWC (Teaching Personnel can provide assistance)
Minimum 5 GCSEs in core subjects preferred
What does a Learning Support Assistant do?

The successful candidate will be working in a Welsh medium primary school with children aged 5 – 11 on a 1:1 basis. The main duties include greeting them in the morning, assisting them with work, explaining tasks and helping their understanding, managing their behaviour, and caring for their well-being throughout the school day. As many of these students have Special Educational Needs, the school are looking for someone they can train and invest in to give the successful candidate a better understanding of how to care and work with these students.

The school is situated in the CF23 area and has an excellent SEN department that the successful candidate will be joining. As stated, continuous training and development is on offer for the candidate to advance their professional ability and experience. You will have regular support and guidance from the SEN Coordinator (SENCO) and other experienced learning support assistants.
