Multi Skilled Electrician (Mobile)

Location: Covering South-West England sites between Cardiff to Gloucester to Taunton, ideally based in Bristol or no further west of Newport

Business Area: Facilities Management – Ministry of Justice

Contract: Permanent, full time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Salary: £30-36k + van, standby & call out, including out of hours & weekends

Kier Places are recruiting today for a Mobile Multi-Skilled Electrician, where your role will be key to supporting the delivery of a Facilities Management Hard Technical Services solution for our prestigious client, the Ministry of Justice, covering 32 sites in the South-West of England.

Key Responsibilities

As a focused and reactive Mobile Multi-Skilled Electrician you will deliver a combination of electrical, mechanical, water and building fabric Planned, Reactive and extra works engineering services specialising in electrical disciplines, across a region, and to multiple client sites including Approved Premises & Probation Offices. You will be assisting in ensuring Kier deliver a safe, customer focused, cost effective, efficient and compliant service in order to meet its contractual and legal obligations.

Whilst electrically biased, this role is multi-skilled and encompasses various PPM tasks including, but not limited to, tap testing, flushing & fixing, legionella tests, pump/compressor fault diagnosis, assessing plant equipment, fire alarm, emergency lighting, fuses, desk management, HVAC, AHU's & compressors maintenance, and other general maintenance works within your abilities such as minor fabric, electric, plumbing & heating repairs.

Electrical activities will include minor lighting and power installation works, re-lamping of fittings and general repair, socket replacement, and other repairs or installations; carrying out electrical tests such as annual emergency light testing, DB and RCD checks, testing and certification of all works in accordance with NICEIC regulations.

You should also be comfortable working on ladders, in tight spaces, and in plant rooms; working alone or in a team; and be comfortable moving/transporting tooling & access equipment of all sizes & weights.

What do we need from you?

We're looking for a proactive Engineer who is a Qualified Electrician (e.g. Level 3 NVQ/City & Guilds 2360, 2330, 2356, 2357, AM1/AM2, or equivalent) with 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671:2018 / Level 3 C&G 2382) certificate; with fault finding and planned maintenance experience, and has the ability to conduct a variety of building & facilities maintenance tasks, including, but not limited to, electrics & lighting, water & plumbing, HVAC, AHUs & compressors.

To be a Multi-Skilled Electrician with Kier, you'll bring with you previous experience in commercial building services / facilities management; and as a bonus, you may have PASMA, Working At Height, IPAF certification, and L8 Legionella awareness. It would be highly desirable if you also have Initial Verification of (2391-50), and Periodic Inspection, Testing and Certifications of Electrical Installations (C&G 2391-51 or equivalent) certificate.

Due to the nature of this position you should have a full UK driving licence, be happy travelling across the county to different sites, and be able to participate in the on-call rota system covering out of hours and weekends.
