Student Mentor – Autism Specialist
Full Time – 39 hours
We are working with an Autism specific care provider based in Cardiff. They provide a range of support to those with Autism and their families, commissioners and others to provide specialist, autism specific, person centred and outcome focused services.
We are looking for a Student Mentor to support students in higher education and further education with Autism and/or Aspergers Syndrome.
The role is based in central Cardiff, however there will be occasions where you would need to attend local Universities to meet with and support students, therefore a driving license and access to a vehicle is required.
You will meet with the individuals and seeking to use the service, and carry out and induction with them.
You will meet regularly as required with students, in line with their assessed support needs to work through barriers to their achieving educational and personal development as part of their studies.
You will provide notes for students and education support teams following each session, ensuring that a clear understanding between all stakeholders is reached. In addition to this you will ensure that each student completes relevant paperwork to ensure compliant with funding requirements and best practice.
Skills and experience required:
Experience of supporting those with Autism
Ability to work on own initiative
Ability to asses and develop support responses in line with autistic people and their families and carers.
Educated to degree level
