An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Transport Manager to join our depot in Llanwern (Newport, South East Wales), where you’ll use your naturally friendly and ‘get stuck in’ approach to work, to effectively lead and be a role model for the Transport team, ensuring a smooth operation in a busy environment.
The Role – Transport Manager
Reporting to the Operations Director, as a Transport Manager you’ll be the single point of contact for all vehicle and driver issues within the depot, managing and mentoring all members of the Transport team, and playing a key role in the growth of our business. Your duties will include, although not be limited to:
* Managing the recruitment of Drivers and transport office employees with the support of the HR team
* Developing and delivering a robust induction process for new team members
* Conducting monthly performance reviews and annual appraisals, striving to develop the team both professionally and personally through mentoring and formal training
* Ensuring there is sufficient workforce cover for all transport requirements
* Ensuring regular vehicle inspections take place
* Utilising telematic data reports to debrief drivers, and help prevent accidents
* Ensuring accidents are reported correctly and investigations are completed thoroughly
* Promoting a continual improvement culture, building strong customer relationships and introducing innovative solutions to add value for our customers
* Managing budgets and reporting of KPIs
* Conducting performance analysis and real time re-forecasting to ensure optimum efficiency
The Package
As the Transport Manager, you’ll be part of a growing business where your efforts and contribution will be recognised and rewarded.
* Salary in the region of £40,000 to £45,000, with the level dependent on experience

You’ll be employed on a permanent contract, working Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm (along with occasional Saturdays).
Our Requirements – Transport Manager
* Experience working as a Transport Manager in a fast-paced operation, with a proven track record of delivering results and improving processes
* Level 3 CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) in National Road Haulage for Transport Managers, or a similar qualification
* Strong leadership skills with ability to manage, motivate, coach, and develop a team
* Commercially aware, with the ability to understand financial implications of resourcing decisions
* Passionate about improving quality and adhering to processes to ensure the best customer experience
* Good numeracy and IT skills, and confident in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Tachomaster
* Full UK driving licence
